Do you know that is the most durable man-made product in the world? Any guesses?
Well, the answer may surprise you… It’s Madeira (fortified) wine, with more than 500 years old and as famous as (or even more than) Madeira Island. Despite being famous for its fortified wine, Madeira also produces young still wines.
Wine, like life, is meant to be enjoyed, so what’s better than a day around the island enjoying Madeira ́s wines? We ́ll experience a more intimate approach of the island, it ́s vineyards and wine producers, in a group of no more than 12 people.
For over 5 centuries, Madeira wine ́s popularity spans all over the world, so much that most people know the wine better than they know the island. Yes, Madeira is well known for its fortified wine, but did you know the island also produces still wines?
Over the course of your day with us, you will not only taste Madeira wine (our famous fortified wine) and our young still wines (white and red) but also take part on a journey through the wine-making process from the vineyards to the glass of wine.
But our Full Day Wine Tour is also a tour around our island, so you will have the opportunity to admire the amazing landscapes of South and North Coast, passing through our UNESCO classified World Heritage Laurissilva forest and get to know the populations of Estreito de Câmara de Lobos, São Vicente and Seixal.
You can’t buy happiness, but you can buy a wine tour and some wine and that certainly helps… Join us and discover what makes our wines so special!

Over the course of the day with us, aside from tasting a variety of island produced wines we´ll take part on a journey through the wine-making process starting from the vineyards right to the glass of wine.
After all pick-ups, we begin our day in the heart of Funchal at the one of the oldest and main Madeira Wine producers in the Island. This family of English origin has owned this prestigious wine house for over 2 centuries and even today the younger generations maintain the tradition. We will tour their cellars and learn all about the wine making process followed by a tasting of 2 Madeira Fortified Wines.
After savouring our island´s fortified pride, we´ll leave Funchal and travel to the northern coast to the municipality of São Vicente, the second largest grape growing county in Madeira.
It is here in São Vicente where our next breath-taking stop is. A wine producer consisting of vineyards of various grape varieties. Since 2006, this wine producer produces white, rosé and red wines. Although the Verdelho (high quality white wine) is the most important of this variety, the demand for their red wine has also increased.
Indulge in a typical lunch (beef on laurel skewers) served among a vineyard (most likely prepared by the producer himself), harmonized with several still wines produced at the vineyard and with a jaw-dropping view.
After lunch, we’ll visit a breathtaking viewpoint, offering stunning panoramas of the surrounding landscape—a perfect spot for photos and to soak in the beauty of Madeira.
Time and wine flies when you are having a good time. The time has come to return to the south coast, however, before we head back to Funchal we will make a last stop at a Madeira Wine producer located in Estreito Câmara de Lobos where we will taste some very special fortified Madeira Wines. This family was established in 1949, and, since then has continuously been managed by family. The quality of their wines has gained an outstanding reputation amongst consumers thus strengthening their image within the international market.
Helene G2025-01-28 best food and wine tour we have ever done. Excellent tour. The best we did while we were on the island. Roberto was fantastic. Highly recommend. Good value for the cost. Meena N2025-01-27 Amazing tour and highly recommend! Amazing tour and highly recommend! Roberto was fantastic, very knowledgeable, friendly and put together a wonderful tour of Funchal that highlighted interesting architectural facts and the delicious culinary world of Madeira. Reasonably priced. Lou M2025-01-23 Overpriced and disappointed Roberto was a very interesting and knowledgeable guide, and very personable and our score is not a reflection on him at all. However, the 'food' element of the tour was poor. Also tour is back to front, we started at 10am with no food, but tasting of Madeira wine. Wine nice, but not at 10am. We then had 2 chocolates (tasty) , followed by cake/biscuits, then 2 tiny crostini, some fruit, some boiled pork( one small bowl between 4 people) and finally a taste of tuna, polenta and bread( again a portion for 1 or 2 between 4 people). We were offered no hot drink. We had more alcohol with morning snacks, and none with the final tuna. All.very strange. We paid £73.50 each, which is very expensive for Madeira, and for the quantities we had. Marian V2025-01-21 Lots of delicious food and drinks! We had Roberto as our tour guide. He was great! Lots of information and we tried lots of Madeira food and drinks at several different stops. Great tour! The company sent a message with a photo of where to meet to make it as easy as possible. welovetravel20132025-01-18 Wine, wine and more wine! A thoroughly enjoyable wine tour combined with a tour of the north of the island. Sophia was an excellent guide and driver, keeping us entertained with stories on the drive between the vineyards. Good to go to Antonio's vineyard up in the north for tasting of still wines and delicious lunch plus two visits for Madeira wine tastings. There were only 3 of us so it felt like a private tour and well worth the cost. Mary U2025-01-12 A wonderful tour..walking the streets of Funchal, tasting many delicacies. We had a wonderful afternoon and our guide Robert was very accomodating and knowledgeable about the culture, history, architecture, food and wine.Everything we tasted was amazing. This was a very relaxing and enjoyable tour, would highly recommend. MrGeorgie2025-01-09 Well organised and informative tour. Our guide, Sofia, delivered a high quality and enjoyable wine tour. Our guide, Sofia, delivered a high quality, informative and enjoyable tour covering the history of Madeira wine, the cultivation of the grapes and the history of the island. Lucia B2025-01-06 Enjoyable Foodie Tour This was a most enjoyable food and cultural tour. It began with a sampling of teas and pastel de nata with whipped cream and a ricotta cheesecake with jam served at an outside patio. A short walk up the intricately tiled street we visited a beautiful church and then sampled some delicious Bolo de Caco sandwiches. Next we made our way to the beautiful food market. We were fortunate for it to be a market day. We sampled various passion fruits including the interesting cheese fruit which tasted like a cross between banana and pineapple. There was of course a taste of Madiera wine with some beautifully shaped chocolates at another stop. That was followed up with a trip to a local restaurant where we had two types of fish including salt cod and scabbard fish with a side of baked carrot. We ended the day with a drink of freshly made poncha made with honey, orange juice and lots of rum. Our tour guide was knowledgable and provided us with a most enjoyable tour. We had several hours after the tour to enjoy the town of Funchal. Paula C2025-01-04 Brilliant day! Brilliant tour, probably the best we have done in several years of coming to Madeira. Sofia was n excellent facilitator with lots of stories to tell. The tour of Blandys was fascinating, seeing and smelling the barrels was amazing. Lunch at the vineyard, with tastings of 6 wines and a guided tour was beyond expectations. The final Madeira Wine plant was the perfect finish to the day. Loved it. joshydog2024-12-08 Amazing day What a beautiful relaxing day we had with with our lovely guide Sofia her knowledge of the island and history was second to none with the stunning scenery and the food was delicious washed down with the lovely local wines what an incredible amazing day Many thanks 🙏🍷
